It’s been a great couple of days here in Manila mixing up Belvedere cocktails all over this great city. From Opus, to Skye Lounge, and even the kids at De La Salle Institute, I’ve been very impressed with what the Philippines has to offer. Thanks for the sunshine and the hospitality, especially you Charlyn (Chi Chi), Marbee (Barbie!), Mojee, and Richard. Until next time, maraming salamat!

BLACK SWAN

Yesterday I arrived to the beautiful city of Manila, capital of the Philippines, and was immediately swept off to an incredible black tie event. Rough life, I know ;) I was lucky enough to be invited to Lifestyle Asia’s Black Swan themed Gala at Shangri-La to celebrate the magazine’s 25th year of publication. We sipped delicious Belvedere cocktails with our exquisite five course meal and enjoyed a beautiful ballet performance throughout the dinner. Big thanks to Richard from our local team for taking me as his date, and for arranging the beautiful gown I borrowed for the event designed by famed Filipino designer Rhett Eala.

Hands up if you love Belvedere!

Yesterday I took the ferry from Hong Kong over to Macau with the lovely Pheona, who works on the marketing side of the local Belvedere team. We spent the day mixing cocktails and tasting vodka with a great group of students at the IFT, Institute for Tourism Studies. Thanks to Edwyn for arranging everything and for translating my session into Cantonese!

Last night we held a great interactive workshop at The Langham Place Hotel in Kowloon where I taught consumers how to be bartenders! There were some very impressive drinks in the bunch and I definitely think we created a few new Belvedere believers. Big thanks to Leo for putting up with us and letting us make a mess of his bar. And a very special shout out to Aaron, Josh, and Steve, the Flight Easy Marines from Unit Hmm-268, for infusing so much fun into the training. Thank you for your service boys!

Last night was the launch of the annual Belvedere BEAT party in Hong Kong. The party takes place every Friday and Saturday for the next 2 months at the city’s hottest clubs and features a long list of internationally renowned DJs. The kick off party was a huge success with 6L bottles of Belvedere as far as the eye could see. The bottles are so big, it takes 2 dudes just to lift one!

I’m back! I’ve been traveling like a dog, spreading the good word of Belvedere from the highlands to the lowlands. I’ve just arrived to Hong Kong where I’ll be based for the next month while I tour around Asia discovering all of vodka’s delights. Here’s a snap of Anna and I with some of the HK team, Leo and Melinda, and Pietro Didio, bar manager of the world’s HIGHEST bar, Ozone at The Ritz Carlton in Kowloon. It’s 118 stories high and offers some of the most stunning panoramic views I’ve ever seen. Go check it out if you’re in Hong Kong and ask about the special Belvedere cocktails they are featuring for the next month.

After another amazing Belvedere filled day in Scotland, sadly I must say goodbye. And so, as I sit on the train with Edinburgh behind me, I leave you with this unlikely pinup, everyone’s favorite Scot, Mr. Bon Vivant himself, Stu McCluskey. Check out that pose! Kate Moss, watch your back.

BONNY SCOTLAND & THE NORTH

The past couple of weeks have been dedicated to this lovely country I now call home, the UK of course!

We’ve just launched Belvedere Bloody Mary + Belvedere Unfiltered over here and, lucky me, many of my trainings have been in conjunction with some delicious brunches. In Manchester we were hosted by the one and only, Nate Booker at Epernay, followed by Sky Bar in Leeds, where the ever charming Simon Douglas was always there to lend a hand. At The Northern Restaurant and Bar Show I gave a seminar about the history of the Bloody Mary with Tom Sneesby, of the The Liquorists, there to provide a colorful introduction ;) The bacon sandwiches should be arriving any time now! Thanks to Alex, Penny, Fiona, and Antony for organizing a great couple of days.

And today was spent even further North, in chilly, but ever lovely, Glasgow. We kicked off at The Blythswood, followed by a couple of tastings at Sugarcube and Bamboo. Thanks to Maya and Rachel for a great day, and to all of the bartenders I met for their enthusiasm and passion for the brand.

Tomorrow it’s off to Edinburgh, where no visit would be complete without a stop at The Bon Vivant to see the inimitable Stu McCluskey!
